Executive Summary
This weekly report provides a comprehensive analysis of critical events, emerging threats, and significant developments across our global watchlist countries. Our Geopolitical & Security Analysis Teams continuously monitor and assess incidents affecting regional stability, security, and business operations.
Between October 5 and 12, conflict reached directly into the civilian transport and energy systems that international operations rely on. Houthi strikes closed Riyadh’s main airport, Iranian attacks on Gulf tankers reached their highest rate of the war, and Russia struck Ukrainian power plants within hours of a US-announced energy ceasefire. Elsewhere, governments leaned on emergency powers: Pakistan suspended Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s elected government and Indian police detained more than 2,000 protesters in Delhi, while Ethiopia and Eritrea traded accusations of war at the UN Security Council. In the Americas, Hurricane Isaias and a magnitude 7.7 earthquake in Panama struck on the same day. The week showed that aviation, shipping and power networks have become direct targets of conflict, not incidental casualties.
